Drop-Off Service FAQ's
How do I use these washers and dryers?
- An attendant is always on duty. Just ask them and they will gladly help you out. TIP: Brief instructions are printed on every machine.

Why did my clothes come out all wet and soapy?
- The most common cause is using too much soap. When this happens there won't be enough rinse water to remove all the excess soap, plus what you are trying to wash away will remain suspended in the soap bubbles so you end up with wet, soapy, dirty clothes. TIP: Extra soap will not get your clothes extra clean.

How come it didn't wash right - some of my clothes didn't even get wet?
- This is usually caused by loading too much laundry into a washer. In this case there won't be enough room for proper washer agitator action and your clothes will not get cleaned. Sometimes the excessive weight of the waterlogged, overloading will overwhelm the capabilities of the washer causing it to shut down mid-cycle. Occasionally, the washer is stuffed so full that water can't even penetrate and some of the clothes remain dry! When you overload, you'll have to split up you load and rewash it to get it clean. TIP: Don't overload the washers. It will be faster and cheaper to use two washers instead of overloading one.

Why did my clothes take too long to dry?
- Overloading a dryer with too much laundry will be problematic because clothes need enough room to tumble through the hot air in the dryer or they will take too long to dry. TIP: Don't overload the dryers. It will be faster and cheaper to use two dryers instead of overloading one.

I lost a sock in the washer or dryer. What happened to it?
- Nobody knows. TIP: Let it go.

Why did the machine "eat" my money?
- All our machine take U.S. quarters. Nothing else works because all the coin acceptors check each coin for authenticity. When anything else is inserted, it will not work and will either fall through uncounted, or get stuck in the coin acceptor mechanism.

How do I add clothes to the washer after it starts?
- You can't open the door on any front loading washer after it starts. The door will remain locked for the entire wash cycle, even if it was started before you put your clothes in it. TIP: To avoid start-up problems use this sequence: (1) load your clothes into the machine, (2) then close the door, (3) then select the wash cycle, (4 ) then insert the coins. TIP: Brief instructions are printed on every machine.

Can I wash my rugs?
- You can wash your rugs if they are all cloth, but use an appropriate sized washer. Do not wash or dry anything that has rubber or plastic on it, like rubber backed rugs, because the hot water wash and the hot air dry will destroy it. TIP: Don't put any rubber or plastic in the washers or dryers.

Can I put my silk clothing it the dryer?
- Do not dry silk cloth in the dryers. The heat will destroy it, even on the lowest setting. TIP: Let your silk stuff air dry.

Can I wash and dry my sneakers?
- Don't put your shoes in the hot water wash or hot air dry because the heat will degrade the advesives in the shoes and they will begin to fall apart way before they wear out. TIP: Sneakers seem to make it through the cold water wash okay, but let them air dry

What's the best way to dry a lot of laundry?
- If you have a whole bunch of clothes to dry, put all the quick drying light things into one dryer, put the medium weight stuff into another, and put your slow drying heavy articles into another. This is the fastest, cheapest way to do it. TIP: When possible, choose dryers that have recently been used and are still warm. This will save you money.

Why did my clothes get spots on them?
- There are many sources, but you can avoid most of them by looking through all your laundry, and checking all the pockets, and checking inside any washer or dryer before you use it. Occasionally someone forgets to remove an ink pen or crayon, etc which will spot your clothes. Also, excessive use of certain liquid fabric softeners or bleach will cause spots and some cosmetic products that get onto your laundry can cause spots. TIP: Check your pockets before you do your laundry.

Why did something get torn?
- The most common cause is getting something trapped in the door seal when you load the machine. The next most common cause results from something that came out of someone's pocket and got left inside the machine, like a nail or a screw. Look through your laundry and check all the pocktes, and always check inside any washer or dryer before you use it. TIP: Check your pockets, check inside the machine, and be careful not to pinch any clothing in the door of the machine.

What if I can't find some of my laundry after I get home?
- When we find laundry, we mark the date it was found and the machine where it was found. We'll keep it on site per local ordinance (often longer), then donate it to charity. When you come in looking for a lost article, you will be asked when you lost it, to describe it, and which machines you used. We also find a varity of pocket items, like keys and I.D. cards which we throw away after at least 30 days. The laundry attendants are not allowed to keep any of the lost or abandonded clothes. TIP: Double check inside after you unload your washer or dryer.
